THE CLIMATE REFUGEE: THE NEED TO RECOGNISE A REALITY
Affecting disproportionately, regions such as Sub-Saharan Africa and South America, climate-induced migration is a fact which by 2050 will cause 1.2 billion people to be displaced. International experts will discuss all the facets of this issue and what is required to remedy the situation in a CASSANDRA session streamed live from the Headquarters of the European Economic and Social Committee in Brussels.

THE CASSANDRA PROGRAMME IN AFRICA AND THE MEDITERRANEAN: THE POWER OF THE LOCAL COMMUNITY ACTIVIST
The CASSANDRA Programme which resulted from the conclusions of the first two CASSANDRA Conferences places enormous emphasis on the promotion and active support of local community activists. CASSANDRA believes that both citizen engagement and citizen science is far more effective if led and implemented by inhabitants of the local communities in question.

The effects of climate change are becoming increasingly entwined with the consequences of other major global issues. In this session, we will explore the nexus between these causes of enormous suffering and unjustifiable inequality.
