ANHAM SALYANI
Technical Specialist, Watersheds and Nature, UN Environment Programme
Driven by a deep commitment to sustainability, wildlife, and environmental protection, Anham Salyani is an Environmental Geoscience graduate from the University of Lausanne. She has joined the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) India Country Office as an International UN Volunteer, where she will be working on the European Commission-funded project focused on the sustainable protection and restoration of rivers, wetlands, and lakes through integrated watershed management. Previously, as Coordinator of the World Water Quality Alliance (WWQA) convened by UNEP in Nairobi, Anham led impactful initiatives for freshwater quality, fostering collaboration across global stakeholders, strengthening partnerships, and expanding the alliance’s reach through platforms such as wwqa.info and YEMAYA. Her work has focused on making water quality data and solutions more accessible, identifying water-related risks, and promoting ecosystem restoration. She has also contributed to CASSANDRA, addressing the interconnected challenges of climate change, migration, health, and gender inequality. Prior to joining UNEP, Anham worked with the Kenya Marine and Fisheries Research Institute, gaining valuable experience in environmental research and conservation.
