Description

The increase and deepening of gender inequality is another potential consequence of Climate Change. Women are likely to be disproportionately affected because, on average, women tend to be poorer, have less access to education, have a lower health status and have limited direct access to or ownership of natural resources.

Lesha (Boleslawa M.) Witmer (Dutch, 1954): Steering Committee Women for Water Partnership (WfWP).
Works on issues around women, gender, water and sanitation since 1998.
Represents WfWP inter alia to CSW, HLPF, UNESCO, UNEA, UNECE, UN Water; UfM; World Water Council and Alliance for Water Stewardship; NL women representative to UN CSD twice. Representative to European Parliament; co-facilitator of European Pact for Water; steering committee member Butterfly Effect NGO coalition.
Vice-president International Water Resources Association (IWRA); Deputy chair Strategic advisory committee World Water Quality Alliance (WWQA) and chair social engagement Platform. Member UNESCO WWAP water and gender working group.
Independent senior expert: equality, participation, human resources; Sustainable Development policies; water governance, advocacy.
Degrees in Human Resource and General Management, studied western sociology and (international and labor) law.

ADENIKE AKINSEMOLU

Director, The Green Institute

Adenike Akinsemolu is the Director of the Green Institute, a Vanguard Fellow at the University of Birmingham, a Senior Research Fellow at Afe Babalola University, and the Founder/Principal Investigator of the Green Microbiology Lab. With over a decade of experience in education and research, she is renowned in the field of environmental sustainability. In addition to being a National Geographic Educator, she is a member of the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network. Her commitment to addressing complex challenges, especially climate change, is unwavering. She has penned several books on sustainability, notably “The Principles of Green and Sustainability Science” (Springer, 2020).

CARLA TORANZO

CEO, Agua Global

Carla Toranzo is a Civil Engineer with more than 20 years of experience. Senior International Consultant in Water & Sanitation. Founder and CEO of AGUA GLOBAL, a non-profit working to advance SDG 6 in Latin America
[LA] on the basis of effective solutions, and leadership in water. Magister.
MBA, MPHIL, and, DBA (c) from Maastricht School of Management.
University Professor, Professor of specialized water stewardship courses.
She was an Officer of the Global Water Program for LA for the Swiss Government – SDC. She led the work of the Alliance for Water Stewardship in LA. She´s been Consultant for the IDB, KfW Group, government organizations, corporations. She´s been instrumental in leading the design, negotiations, and effective development of cuttingedge initiatives with innovative concepts such as Water Footprint, NatureBased Solutions – Water, and Water Stewardship at the LA level.

HADEEL FAIDI

Head of water planning, Palestinian Water Authority

Hadeel Faidi is a strategic planner engineer and water projects planner at the Palestinian Water Authority responsible for the planning process for the water sector strategy and policy, involved in of the construction of water reservoirs, water supply networks, roads and utilities. In her work she is interfacing with a wide range of government, representatives, agencies and private sectors. She is member for the NEXUS and WASH groups for the UFM water Agenda, member of the Arab IHP National Committee for UNESCO. Noticeable is her experience in the field of NGO’s coordination, proposal writing, fundraising.

DOHA ZAMEL

Water expert for the Water, Environment and Blue Economy division, UFM

Doha Zamel is currently an external Water Expert working for the Union for the Mediterranean and AECID.
She worked with international and regional organizations which are active on water and IWRM activities.
She is a fee-paid Expert Within the European Commission and a co-editor the Gateway to the future of the Mediterranean of a publication regarding the Water-Energy-Food-Environment Nexus in the Mediterranean.
She Worked with the GWP-Med to assist the advance of the development of the UfM Water Agenda.
Doha served as a country assistant in the field of water management at the Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe (REC) based in Hungary in the WATER POrT project. She was involved in dialogue activities and providing support to actions related to integrated water resources management and climate change adaptation. She has been involved in the BeWater project within the National Institute for Research, Rural Engineering and Forestry (INRGREF) in Tunis.
She has a hydraulic engineering degree from the National Institute of Agronomy of Tunis.
